Tips and Tricks, How to save electricity at home?

In our daily lives we unnecessarily consume so much more electricity than we actually need to. But there are actually a number of ways to significantly reduce the costs of electric bills. This material provides a list of tips which may help you, your family or flatmates to become more energy efficient. Here is a list of tips:

1. Replace light bulbs

The fist method of saving money from your electrical bill consider to eeplace your lighting with low energy LED lights.  They only use 90% less energy. Secondly LED light also last 10-20 times longer so you will hardly ever have to replace them.

2. Try to run cold washes in the washing machine

The process of washing clothing involves a lot and when it comes to energy, there are several ways to make it chipper. Whenever possible you can choose washing your clothes at 30 degrees rather than 40 can so you can save you a 1/3 on your washing bills. It can make quite a difference.

3.Don’t leave anything plugged in if you are not using it

Charger cables that don’t have anything plugged into them, but are still connected to the socket, can waste electricity. Electrical equipment’s like laptops and phones can still use energy when they fully charged, so make sure you unplug them once they’re charged up. So, if you want a cheaper bill don’t leave appliances on standby.

4.Stay warm, check your windows and cut costs.

Replace any obviously damaged or worn sealant around the windows using a silicon gun, can prevent warm air escaping from the seals.

Also think about turning your thermostat down by just 1°C, experts conform can save you as much as £75 per year. Finally consider also wearing an extra layer it can make a world of difference

5.Buy efficient appliances

Whenever you buy a new appliance take a look at the energy ratings on it before you buy it.  A rating would be the best solution!

6. Change your fridges temperature

Set your fridge/freezer to a higher temperature so they don’t need to work so hard. Think also if you are defrosting food, always defrost it in the fridge because then the frozen food will keep the fridge cooler!

And an extra tip, the freezer works most efficiently when packed as full as possible.

7.Spend less time showering

Spending one minute less in the shower each day will save your money and will protect your health.
